• The various types and examples of internal controls ranging from preventive and detective controls to administrative and accounting controls.
• Coordinating the components of risk assessment with management’s objectives.
• Best practice recommendations augmented by case studies of internal control lapses.

2022 GASB Update

April 6, 2022 (1:00 PM to 4:50 PM)

Moderator: John A. Savash, II, CPA, Associate Professor of Accounting, Elmira College

Program Description:

This session will dive deep into issues related to GASB standards currently being implemented by governments in New York, including those related to leases, P3s and availability payment arrangements, subscription-based IT arrangements, Section 457 plans, COVID-related guidance, conduit debt, and replacement of LIBOR.

The session also will cover forthcoming pronouncements addressing compensated absences, accounting changes and error corrections, and exchange and exchange-like financial guarantees. Time permitting, the session will include highlights of ongoing standards-setting projects, research activities, and post-implementation review of existing standards.
