Civil Service Rules, Procedures, and Challenges on Long Island (9:10 am - 10:00 am) 

Hiring and disciplinary actions for public sector employees is very different from the private sector.  Recruiting qualified persons to fill government finance positions, in addition to retention, turnover and the increasing number of retirements in the profession are confronting all governments.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about how civil service works on Long Island, the employment challenges being faced by governments and ask questions.

ARPA Funding Roundtable:  The 'Then', The 'Now' and the 'What's Next' (10:20 am - 12:00 pm) 

Billions in American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funding are coming to the State and local governments.  Guidance has been issued and continues to be updated regularly.  There are many questions regarding the use of the funds, certification of the use of the funds, and the proper accounting and financial reporting for the funds. 

This program will have a panel of government finance experts from across the services spectrum (legal, advisory, cash management, accounting and auditing, etc.) which will share what we know, what is happening currently and the critical roles government finance officers play in managing and complying with the requirements associated with ARPA funds. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive roundtables to share their 'ARPA stories' with the panel and colleagues.

  • On-site registrations are accepted; however, there will be an additional fee of $10.00.

  • Cancellations made up to one week prior to the event, will be refunded the registration fee less an administrative fee of $15.00.
