The 2020 election results, the COVID-19 pandemic, eratic revenue streams and uncertain prospects for Federal financial assistance have all come together to challenge the public sector like none other.  Gain perspective on where the economy is, what financial indicators are showing for 2021 and the prospects for economic recovery in New York and the Central Region.

Managing Data and Analytics in Municipal Budgeting (2:10 PM to 3:00 PM)

Municipal budget decision-making, especially in this period of uncertainty, relies on the quality of the data collected and how it is analyzed.  This session will provide a high-level overview of how to work with department heads to collect reliable data and objectively analyze it through the prism of a municipality's priorities.  Incorporating data analysis into the capital planning process will also be discussed.

Accounting Software in a Changing Regulatory World (3:10 PM to 4:00 PM)

Do you know if your entity's accounting software has the ability to keep up with rapidly evolving accounting standards such as GASB 84 (Fiduciary Activities) and GASB 87 (Leasing)?  If not, this is an opportunity to pick up some tips and best practices to consider when evaluating accounting software options which will serve your needs now - and down the road.
