Using AI in the Finance Office

This session will explore practical ways finance officers can use today’s AI tools to solve real-world problems, with a focus on moving beyond basic chatbots toward more capable, agentic workflows.

University at Buffalo School of Management professors Dominic Sellitto and Cristian Tiu will demonstrate an example using Claude Code and discuss alternatives such as OpenCode, OpenRouter, open-source models, and locally hosted AI, highlighting their value proposition with regard to regulatory compliance and governance.

The session will also examine where familiar tools like Excel fit into an AI-enabled workflow, how finance professionals can use different AI platforms to structure cash flow analyses and outputs, and, critically, how AI itself can be used to review, validate, and check the quality of the work it helps produce.

• CPE- Only viewers of the live program can earn CPE credit.
• GFI-  Credit can be earned by viewing the live or recorded version of this program.

CANCELLATION POLICY: 

• Cancellation notices must be made in writing and emailed to info@nygfoa.org.
• Cancellations made up to one week prior to the event, will be refunded the registration fee less an administrative fee of $15.00.
• No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than one week before the event; the registrant is liable for the full amount of registration.
• No Shows are liable for all registration fees.
