9:40 - 10:30 am | Cybersecurity Update from NYS DHSES The NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (NYS DHSES) Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) within the Office of Counter Terrorism is the one stop cyber incident reporting entity (1-844-OCT-CIRT) for NYS local governments, school districts, non-executive state agencies, and public authorities by assisting governments in identification, containment, and eradication of a cyber incident. This session will present the work CIRT carries out to help protect and support NYS and offer an overview of the number, sector, and type of incidents CIRT responded to over the last year, lessons learned from supporting and responding to local governments, as well as top cybersecurity actions they encourage local leaders to take as they are the best line of defense. 10:40 - 11:30 am | No Tax on Overtime - Guidance and Reporting Last year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published guidance for employees to deduct qualified overtime compensation from federally taxable income, also known as “no tax on overtime.”. This temporary deduction will have significant implications for government finance officers as governmental entities are one of our nation’s largest employers and adhere to a combination of federal, state and local regulations on overtime pay. CANCELLATION POLICY:
- Cancellation notices must be made in writing and emailed to info@nygfoa.org.
- Cancellations made up to one week prior to the event, will be refunded the registration fee less an administrative fee of $15.00.
- No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than one week before the event; the registrant is liable for the full amount of registration.
