Committees

NYGFOA has four standing committees.  Membership on the following Committees is open to all members in good standing.

Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting -- Committee Purpose Statement

  • The Committee meets via Zoom quarterly to review and discuss proposed and recently enacted rules, regulations, laws, and best practices pertaining to governmental accounting and financial reporting.  Committee members also assist in the review and development of the Association's training and educational development programs on governmental accounting, auditing, and financial reporting. 

Banking and Investment Management -- Committee Purpose Statement

  • The Committee meets via Zoom quarterly to develop and discuss cash management best practices and assist in the development of training and education programs on public sector cash management and investment of public funds. 

Legal and Legislative -- Committee Purpose Statement

  • The Committee meets quarterly via Zoom to review and discuss the changing laws and regulations impacting the government finance profession in New York.  The Committee also develops, for consideration by the Association's Board of Governors, 'common sense' legislative proposals aimed at keeping New York's government finance statutes current and meeting the needs of today's government finance industry.

To help with the governance of NYGFOA, there are also several working committees whose membership is determined in the By-Laws and the members appointed by the President.
